Far Cry New Dawn Runs at a Native Resolution

Far Cry: New Dawn is a direct sequel, albeit with a new protagonist. Set 17 years after the bombs fell, Montana’s returned to some semblance of post-apocalyptic normalcy, meaning people are back above ground and building towns. For those sticking around, I assume you either saw (or read about) the ending of Far Cry 5 or, more likely, don't care. If you're in the latter group, it's just about the most absurd and unearned ending I've seen in recent years. After killing cultists and preppers for 20 or 30 hours you’re treated to a scene where nuclear bombs fall on Montana, proving the cultists and preppers right. Far Cry 5 ends with you and cult leader Joseph Seed alone in the bunker where you started the game, waiting out the apocalypse.

Whenever a major game comes out, console owners are always curious as to which platform offers the best visuals. It has become a competition of sorts at this point. According to a report by Digital Foundry, Far Cry New Dawn runs at native 4K resolution on the Xbox One X. The PlayStation 4 Pro version is 1620p, or reduced to only 77 percent of native 4K on both axes. In this game which has a lot of micro-foliage, every increase in resolution matters because the environment is significantly sharper. Unfortunately, the frame rate is 30 FPS on all consoles. It is highly unlikely that Far Cry New Dawn will ever release for the Nintendo Switch. Unlike a lot of other games that Switch owners ask about, the Far Cry developers at Ubisoft haven't even mentioned the likelihood of New Dawn being released for the Switch. Given that Far Cry 5 wasn't released for the Switch, either, and considering that games of this scope aren't often ported over to Nintendo consoles, we wouldn't bet on seeing Far Cry New Dawn for the Nintendo Switch any time soon.

Each has their own fighting style and abilities that help them stand out in combat, from the lovable canine Timber's ability to spot and mark points of interest to the elderly sniper Nana's deadly precision with a rifle. Not all of them will be offered to the player so easily however. Most of the Guns for Hire need to be tracked down and recruited from certain areas, or enlisted after completing certain missions. To that end, we've compiled a list of all of the Guns for Hire we've come across and what it took to recruit them. Note that we will update entries as we figure out the process more completely, and add in entries for new Guns for Hire as we find them.

Initially, this will lead most players to think they'll have to constantly go out into the wilds to kill enemies and take out enemy bases, scavenging the scant materials left behind once you survive the skirmish. One is to take part in the game's optional Expeditions, which see the player travel to locations outside of Hope County to gather resources from the wreckage of the United States. These are unlocked after upgrading Prosperity's Expeditions facility at least once, with more profitable expeditions available the more you upgrade the facility.
